Live, Work, Play in Nuvali, a Sustainable Township in Laguna
Nuvali is dubbed as a place where people and nature thrive. Indeed, it is the only sustainable township in the south.
Steeped in rich history, in the 1800s, Nuvali was once a component of the Friar Lands. The parcel of land was subsequently developed as a sugar plantation at the turn of the century.
Nuvali unlocks the potential for both the existing and future communities in the ever-booming Southern Luzon area. With sustainable principles at the core, Nuvali imbues a three-fold vision of harmony, diversity, and sustainability. Nuvali straddles the key cities in Laguna, namely Sta. Rosa, Cabuyao, and Calamba.
All things flourish in an environment with more than 51, 986 trees, 86% of which are native species. Nuvali’s developer, ALI, also aims to plant more trees in the future.
Nuvali today
Here in Nuvali, there is a vast gathering of residential communities, business spaces, lifestyle centers, and recreational activities.
Upon the mention of these essentials, a holistic community that Nuvali is—it also includes two prestigious schools, Xavier School Nuvali and Miriam College, as well as a teambuilding and camping ground, Camp N, for the residents to explore.
Live in Nuvali
Living green is the mantra at the Philippines’ first and largest eco-city development.
Nuvali boasts of more than 12,000 residential units with some of the highest land value appreciation rates in the country. Ayala Land Premier, Alveo Land, Avida Land, and Amaia Land, Ayala Land’s residential brands, all have a presence in Nuvali. The mixed land use type development was seamlessly integrated to support sustainable living communities.
Currently, Amaia Land launched the first and only townhouse development in NUVALI - Amaia Series Nuvali. The project blooms through the success of the first two mid-rise condominiums in Nuvali. The soon-to-rise 2-storey and 3-storey townhouse development aims to provide breathable living spaces for growing families who wish to have more relaxed living outside the Metro while staying connected to everything essential. Accessible via CALAX and South Luzon Expressway through Mamplasan, Sta. Rosa, and Eton Exits, residents will benefit greatly from quick access to schools, recreational facilities, business and commercial centers of NUVALI.
Work in Nuvali
Mixing business with pleasure is a welcome idea at Nuvali. Businesspeople can stay at Seda Hotel and unleash their adventurous spirit tackling the 35-kilometer mountain bike trail, hiking paths, or the wildlife and bird sanctuary during their lull period.
Nuvali is equipped with 85,000 gross leasable areas of office and retail spaces, as well as about 150 hotel rooms. The office space leasing assets doubled in size in the last few years to up to 60,000 sqm from 31,000 sqm. Targeting to erect more BPO-friendly buildings, among others, the area will be a mixed-used green urban district and a PEZA-accredited area no less.
PEZA (Philippine Economic Zone Authority) is an agency created under the Department of Trade and Industry tasked to promote investments in the country. PEZA assists the investors while also facilitating the business operations and granting incentives to companies operating in select areas in the land known as a PEZA zone. Lakeside Evozone-South, for instance, is a PEZA-registered area.
Companies operating within these areas are 100% sustainable. Fundamentally, these businesses implement these green business practices.
1) Create a sustainable culture
A green mindset must be established first. It is not just about considering the environmental impact of the business activities, but also about eliminating inefficiencies and seeking continual improvement. These things are taken up at the organization level.
Green thinking can also be incorporated among the employees. This can be done by simply voluntarily switching lights off when not in use without being told to do so.
2) Engage the employees
Speaking of which, implementing eco-works could be more sustainable if you can get the employees on board. The employees are the ones who are going to make green changes happen.
Hence, they must fully grasp the direction that the firm is attempting to pursue. Employee participation can be encouraged through managers and supervisors who are ‘walking the talk.’ Yes, the approach must be top-down.
3) Save more energy
When the first two ways are in place, it is easier to implement the rest of the tips mentioned here. For instance, make sure that no one wastes energy, particularly to gadgets consumption. A classic example is pulling the plug of the charger when no one is using it.
People tend to forget this without realizing that the connected charger still consumes energy. Make it a habit of unplugging all the office equipment before leaving the office.
Other ways to sustain an eco-friendly business operation include:
Going digital, becoming paperless
Having a recycling program
Using eco-friendly materials
Networking with like-minded businesses
Play in Nuvali
In 2016, Nuvali introduced its newest attraction, Camp N. It aims to feature unique activities you will find nowhere else in Laguna, such as bird watching, koi feeding, kayaking, tree planting, off-road biking, and wakeboarding. All these activities are accessible in Nuvali.
Camp N features the Adventure Tower, Obstacle Courses, Aerial Walk, and Rope Courses.
Interestingly, the Adventure Tower consists of roller coaster zip line (the longest in Asia), rappel wall, climbing wall, and free fall. The obstacles are basic, intermediate, and advanced, while the ropes are low and high. On the other hand, the Aerial Walk is at different levels, depending on the difficulty, and includes a high ladder, cargo net climbing, and initiatives.
Other attractions include strider play areas and camping grounds for the kids and close-to-nature activities. Examples are running and biking trails and Greens & Patches, which is a demo organic farm.
Nuvali in the future
ALI embarked on several significant developments within the estate and plans on putting up more on top of what are already well underway. The developer has great plans for Nuvali. It is positioned to become the future central business district (CBD) in the south.
At present, Nuvali is considered as an expansive sustainable township located in Laguna powerhouses such as Sta. Rosa, Cabuyao, and Calamba. Its accessibility alone and infrastructures, as well as the dynamic business environment and sustainable city structures, support its route toward becoming the next financial hub.
While at it, business and leisure activities escalate in the last five years with the help of the operation of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) that is directly connected to SLEX (South Luzon Expressway). From Mamplasan exit, NUVALI is only 8 kilometers away.
Getting to and from Nuvali is easy because of the availability of public transportation going to and within the estate. Buses travel from Makati to Nuvali and vice versa while jeepneys, from Balibago terminal to Nuvali and vice versa. It takes approximately 50 minutes from Makati, 30 minutes from Alabang, and 15 minutes from Sta. Rosa Exit to go to Nuvali.
